These films have all got 'silent' or 'silence' in the titles. They all show that the actors mouth has been covered so as they cannot speak and are 'silent' and in 'Dead Silence' the puppet is displaying a simple 'Ssh' gesture to also show 'silence'. After deciding I wanted to place a zip over my actors mouth to show he cannot make a sound and link in with my film title 'Silent Students' I looked up some other Thriller films with silent or silence in the title to see if I could find any alternatives. I found these four and saw the idea behind the poster was the exact same as mine by somehow covering the mouth, this helped show me how effective my poster could look and how the picture and title linking works well. Also like the other posters I have researched, they all show a close up of one characters face, this has helped confirm how I wanted my poster to look to be the most effective.
This is my A2 Media Blog where I had to create a trailer for a movie genre of my choice, I chose Thriller. This blog shows all my research and planning whilst creating my trailer and all the changes I made throughout until I finally created the final piece - Silent Students.

Thriller poster inspirations
After researching the different popular Thriller posters I noticed almost all of them included a close up of a characters face and that was all. There were no other characters included on the posters other than the main character, they are very simple however the simplicity of them gives them a much more eerie feel and does not give a lot away. The one that inspired me the most and has used a similar idea to what I intend to do for my poster is 'Gamer'. The characters face has editing and it realtes to the moral of the films story, with the actors face looking like some kind of puzzle or internet game with the quote 'Who's playing you' and showing another younger actor inside the main actor. I felt this was the most appropriate poster to take inspiration from as I intend to use a zip on my actors mouth to indicate he cannot speak which like 'Gamer' links with the title of my film; 'Silent Students'. As well as this, 'Gamer' has given me the idea to use a short quote relating to silence on the poster.

Audience feedback draft #1
This was a reaction to my first draft thriller trailer by Chloe Gage, 17. Understandably they find it difficult to understand the storyline, I believe this is through lack of shots particularly quick shots. Currently I find it is looking more like a short film rather than a trailer as the shots are not cut quick enough and the location is the same throughout as well as clothing. When I come to do my second draft, I will ensure the editing shots are a lot quicker and a variety of different locations are used. to help determine it is a trailer.

A2 Thriller Trailer - First Draft
This is my first draft for my A2 Thriller Trailer. At the minute it comes across as more of a short film and the editing is not completed to the best it can be. I will gather more shots and make them a lot shorter so the movement is quick showing it is a trailer. I will also begin looking at sound tracks to go over the top of my trailer and to potentially add blackouts with parts of the story.
There are some shots that I feel do not need to be in the trailer and therefore I will replace them with more effective shots. I also think I need more variety in location to determine it is a trailer, by adding effects I believe it can make the trailer overall look more professional and appealing. For my second draft I will introduce the villain and begin to try and build more of a relationship between the characters.

Ideas for Thriller poster advertisement
Below are the ideas I had regarding my thriller poster as part of my promotion package.
For my Thriller trailer poster I have decided to link the name in with the poster. As it is called 'Silent Students' I liked the idea of placing a zip across a students mouth to show the cannot speak. I decided to collect and experiment with different sizes and colours of zips and cut some into appropriate shapes. Below are all the zips I tested to find which was best for my front cover. I came to the decision that I wanted to use the first zip shown as I felt it was the most effective as it look the most realistic.
This zip I decided against due to how thin it was towards the ends. You are able to see my actors lips which I feel takes away the purpose of the zips use.
I decided to use this zip for my poster as it offers the most coverage, I also like the colours of the silver and black together as you can clearly see the zip against a dark background.
I decided not to use this zip because of the thinness and also colouring. Despite being able to see the lips i also felt the colour yellow did not fit in with the thriller genre.
Although this zip is the right colour, I decided against it due to not clearly being able to see the zip itself therefore it could be misunderstood as to what it is.
